Mirzapur Review
I am from Uttar Pradesh and I currently reside in Bangalore. They have covered every aspect of Uttar Pradesh’s underbelly, with the exception of the acid attack.
It has a score of 10 out of 10. Why? I could relate with it much more than its other state viewers, after all. In the same way as Game of Thrones was inspired by medieval Europe, this series was inspired on Uttar Pradesh in the 1990s and the early 2000s (note the CM brothers for context:P).
I was raised in that setting in the past. But is there any kind of art that has accurately captured it? Even Omkara and Ganges of Wasseypur tried to tone it down a bit to make it more suitable for the silver screen.
The advantage of creating content for digital platforms is that they don’t have to be politically correct in order to win over the audience and compromise the integrity of the narrative.
I watched the entire episode in a single sitting since I thought that was possibly the best portion. purely nostalgic. I was thinking back on my early years while relaxing in my room in Bangalore. Yes, violence exists in Uttar Pradesh. Power is valued in Uttar Pradesh.
There, the word “Bahubali” has a different connotation. Uttar Pradesh, however, is not a boring state. The state is dynamic, active, and politically volatile because everyone is in tune with one another. A show that is best enjoyed while standing back from it all comfortably so as not to risk getting your hand burned.
And this series provided you exactly that opportunity. Continue your wonderful work.
