Review on Skullcandy Mini and Mighty Dime
The inexpensive true wireless market, which was formerly dominated by a small number of brands with an emphasis on lower prices, is now seeing the introduction of many more names, including those often associated with more expensive options. Due to increased competition in the market, consumers looking for affordable true wireless earphones now have a wide range of options. However, this area has traditionally lacked an engaging design and aesthetic. With its latest true wireless headset, the Rs. 2,399 Dime, Skullcandy intends to change that.
The company’s most cheap true wireless headset to date is the Skullcandy Dime. It promises good sound quality, a small form factor, and Skullcandy’s distinctive aesthetic. Is this truly the best pair of wireless earbuds you can get for under Rs. 2,500?
While it is true that the Skullcandy Dime true wireless headset is small, light, and incredibly portable, it is not noticeably more so than alternatives like the Oppo Enco Buds. Due to the plastic body and straightforward charging case, the entire set weighs 32g, which is very little for a true wireless headset. Skullcandy does not specify the weight of the earpieces or charging case but claims that they are both 32g.
The earpieces have a secure in-canal fit, but I did not find the form or plastic of the earpieces to be particularly comfortable to me. I also did not find the noise isolation good. I could use the earpieces for approximately 30 to 40 minutes before needing to remove them for a minute or so to give my ears a break. The earphones look nice thanks to the enduring Skullcandy industrial design and the recognisable skull emblem, which give them a distinctly contemporary, youthful appearance.
The Skullcandy Dime earphone’s connectivity was reliable, and I had no issues with them up to metres away from my smartphone. Call quality was average, although I had no major issues making calls at home, the sound was a little muffled even at high volume.
