URI the surgical strike Story
A 2019 Indian Hindi-language action war movie titled “Uri: The Surgical Strike” is based on the 2016 Indian cross-border military operation of the same name. Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Kirti Kulhari, and Mohit Raina are among the cast members of the Aditya Dhar-directed movie.
A Special Forces commander named Major Vihaan Singh Shergill (Kaushal) organizes a clandestine operation to get revenge on the attackers who killed 19 Indian soldiers in the 2016 Uri attack.
In a flashback scene from the 2016 Uri attack, four militants with heavy weapons storm the brigade headquarters in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 19 troops while they slept.
The terrorists are taken out, but Vihaan’s younger brother Karan (Mohit Raina) perishes in a grenade explosion after mistakenly removing the pin from the terrorist’s rifle, which he had picked up to inspect. The entire family, including Vihaan, is distraught.
The Integrated Defence Staff HQ in New Delhi then gives Vihaan a desk job. He dislikes his job and yearns to get back to work. He meets Flight Lieutenant Seerat Kaur (Kirti Kulhari), an Indian Air Force pilot, who is attempting to show her patriotism to her slain husband, an army officer who was killed in an ambush. Mother of Vihaan goes gone one lovely day.
He looks for her and accuses Jasmine of being ignorant, telling her that she doesn’t need security. After seeing Vihaan’s mother under a bridge, Jasmine identifies herself as an intelligence agent. The movie explains why, in light of the threat posed by North Eastern terrorists, the families of special forces members received security.
Vihaan is ultimately chosen for a clandestine operation to exact revenge for the Uri tragedy. He directs a group of commandos into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as they cross the Line of Control (LoC). The commandos complete the mission effectively, killing a number of terrorists and destroying their bases. The mission is a resounding success and gives the Indian Army a tremendous morale boost.
The movie concludes with Govind (Paresh Rawal), Pallavi (Yami Gautam), and the commandos enjoying a formal dinner with the Prime Minister.
The Surgical Strike was a commercial and critical success, according to Uri. It received recognition for portraying surgical strikes realistically, for its action scenes, and for the cast performances. With over 340 crore in international box office receipts, the movie was also a financial triumph.
The 2016 Uri attack and the ensuing surgical strikes are based on actual events in the movie. The story, however, is given significant artistic license in the movie. Vihaan Singh Shergill, for instance, is a composite character based on a number of actual officers who took part in the surgical strikes.
The Indian Army’s bravery and sacrifice are honored in the patriotic movie Uri: The Surgical Strike. It serves as a reminder of the cost of our freedom. The movie also serves as a warning to anyone who might dare to question India’s sovereignty.

URI the surgical strike Review
The circumstances leading up to the surgical strikes are included in Aditya Dhar’s brutal war thriller as seen through the eyes of Vicky Kaushal’s Major Vihaan Singh Shergill. He is also fighting personal problems at home, which makes things more difficult for him.
Vicky Kaushal is having a great year, first and foremost. It’s interesting to note that after portraying a brave Pakistani Army officer in Raazi, he now plays an unstoppable Para (Special Forces) Commando in the Indian Army. The actor is living up to the buzz surrounding him and getting stronger and stronger. His genuine and natural presence gives this movie substance because it would otherwise lack the visceral tension you would expect from a combat drama.
The daring of the mission it dramatically decodes and recreates, rather than how it is carried out, is what makes it interesting. You are aware of the outcome, but you nevertheless observe the happenings with a childlike sense of fascination as the intricate operation plan was classified. The difficult procedure by which 80 Indian Para SF commandos entered PoK and destroyed the terror camps offers for an eye-opening, though not riveting, viewing experience.
The movie receives a higher technical rating than a creative one. Combat scenes, including ambushes, shooting, fistfights, and sniper shots, are shot realistically. Like a shadow, the camera delicately follows the warriors. This battle movie effectively employs sound effects for the majority of the time, which is essential for combat film storytelling.
The sounds of guns and bullets are accurately captured, but some extraneous noises (loud whispers, loud footfall, etc.) defeat the very point of a covert mission.
Despite being based on actual events, many things seem improbable and dubious. One might forgive a few artistic licenses, but the first half makes a concerted effort to be dramatic and evocative of feelings. It’s okay to manipulate people’s emotions, but it could have been done in a more deft and unpredictable way. In their individual parts, Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina, Paresh Rawal, and Kirti Kulhari all perform well.
No words can adequately express or compensate the sacrifices our soldiers make for our nation as they give up their today for our tomorrow. Uri draws attention to the selfless work that these people do with a burning desire in their hearts and a fire in their belly. Though conceptually the movie is an appropriate tribute to the Indian Army, there are several technical issues.
